The CMC UH Eye Institute and Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital is seeking an academically-oriented pediatric ophthalmologist to join our Center for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Adult Strabismus. Appointment at the level of Clinical Instructor, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor is available commensurate with experience.
Candidates at the Assistant Professor level should demonstrate promise for research and teaching excellence; Associate and Full Professor candidates should have established a significant professional reputation regionally, nationally and/or internationally. Qualified applicants for Instructor should hold a doctoral degree and have completed at least several post-doctoral or fellowship years.
The Center has a large patient base, referral practice, and works with one of the top ranked NICUs in the country. The position entails clinical activity at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center, Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital, University Hospitals Ahuja Medical Center, and at 3-4 satellite clinics. Excellent diagnostic and surgical skills are required.
The department supports an 18 resident Ophthalmology training program, as well as a 1 year clinical and 2 year combined clinical and research fellowship in Pediatric Ophthalmology (AAPOS and AUPO approved). The residency has current ACGME Accreditation.
An interest in clinical or basic science research is preferred. There is well established clinical, basic science, and collaborative research facilities and opportunities (Top of the line animal research facilities, 2 clinical coordinators, tech transfer center, and established PEDIG site).
QualificationsThe successful candidate must maintain high clinical and ethical standards that will be carried into decision-making processes, adhere to compliance measures, establish and promote an atmosphere of unity through collaborative practice and effective communication between all staff disciplines, and foster a high level of patient and staff satisfaction.
The candidate must be Board Certified/Board Eligible in Ophthalmology, with subspecialty training in Pediatric Ophthalmology. Candidate must also possess/maintain a current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Ohio.
