Maine Behavioral Healthcare, a member of MaineHealth, is seeking a full-time Psych NP or PA for our Substance Use Disorder Treatment Programs.
MaineHealth has adopted a “hub and spoke” approach to deliver integrated substance use disorder treatment throughout its footprint in Maine and New Hampshire. Intensive outpatient treatment and early recovery care is provided in hubs operated by Maine Behavioral Healthcare, and ongoing supportive treatment is provided within primary care patient centered medical homes in each local health care system.
The selected candidate will provide outpatient substance use disorder and psychiatric care, including buprenorphine medication assisted treatment, as a member of a multidisciplinary team in Maine Behavioral Healthcare’s South Portland hub, with additional telemedicine support in the Rockland hub. Team members ascribe to MaineHealth’s intent to reduce stigma by treating substance use disorders in a chronic care model, alongside other common medical conditions, and harm reduction philosophy, in which we seek to ensure that patients maintain access to treatment in a safe and therapeutic environment.
Limited weekend coverage in other MaineHealth inpatient psychiatric hospitals is reimbursed separately.
Teaching opportunities may be available through the state’s only psychiatry residency program, which is based at Maine Medical Center and through a newly developed addiction medicine fellowship program.
Maine Behavioral Healthcare is Northern New England's leading integrated behavioral healthcare system. It serves predominantly southern, western, central and Mid-Coast Maine, and is composed of southern Maine's only nonprofit psychiatric hospital, outpatient treatment, crisis services, Crisis Stabilization units, as well as 5 ACT teams.
