Summary

This is an exciting opportunity for a clinician looking to be involved in the evaluation of psychosocial needs of patients/students and their families and provision of treatment services including individual, family and group therapy in the Developmental Disorders Service programs. He/She is a member of the Development Disorders treatment team and facilitates treatment team meetings that include family and other relevant providers. The clinician works in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team to enact a coordinated treatment plan.    This individual will be a member of Maine Behavioral Healthcare’s Center for Autism and Developmental Disorders in South Portland. Since its opening in 2014, the Center has grown significantly and will soon be transforming into the Center of Excellence in Autism and Developmental Disorders.   The new Center of Excellence building will provide greatly expanded space, in a state of the art treatment setting, to increase access to high quality behavioral healthcare for people with autism and developmental disorders. The Center of Excellence will serve the full lifespan, from toddlers to older adults, offer new forms of care and service, and provide the opportunity to participate in innovative research.   Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
  • Education: Master’s degree in Social Work from an institution accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.
  • License/Certifications: Licensure by the Maine State Board of Social Worker Licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker preferred. Licensure by the Maine State Board of Social Worker Licensure as a Licensed Master Social Worker – Clinical Conditional considered.
  • Experience: Experience working with individuals with developmental disorders, including children with autism and intellectual disability. 2+ years of work experience in a mental health setting.
  • Knowledge of social work theories, therapies and techniques, as used in individual, family and group treatment, as well principles of social welfare, as applied to individuals with developmental disorders
  • Proficiency in psychosocial assessment and treatment
  • Considerable knowledge of community resources and agencies and how to use them in resolving complex problems related to health, illness and disability
  • Facility with CBT, TF-CBT and other evidence-based modalities preferred
  • Facility with social skills teaching and behavior support strategies required
  • DOE fingerprinting required
  • Must display strong interpersonal, planning, and analytical skills, professionalism, and maturity
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to adapt readily to change, work flexibly within a team, and work within a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel required.
