Position Summary: Works under the direction of the Administrator; will assist in candidate selection process, interviews, and teach selected STNA candidates the STNA program as outlined per ODH, under the direction and guidance of the Nurse Aide Training and Competency Evaluation Program (TCEP). May teach classes up to eight individuals, more than eight must involve the TCEP Coordinator. Training includes written course work and clinicals per ODH guidelines. Will assist in scheduling tests with ODH and keep STNA registry up to date. The STNA Instructor will train/educate STNAs on a variety of topics and competencies as scheduled and complete other tasks as assigned.
Education, Work Experience and Licensure:
Have previously completed or will complete the requirements to become an STNA Instructor.
Current and valid State of Ohio Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license or Registered Nurse (RN)
Experience providing nursing care to a senior population preferred
Knowledge of regulatory agency standards and guidelines or the ability to learn this information as part of the orientation process
Ability to work as an effective Team member, prioritize work and meet objectives and timelines
Ability to work independently in all aspects of position
Must be able to coordinate, motivate, and supervise resident care personnel and work closely with the Director of Nursing for Holzer Senior Care Center and the Education Department.
Ability to effectively develop and present personnel training and development topics as related to STNA duties and educational topics required by ODH rules/regulations
Basic Life Support certification within 60 days of hire
First Aide Certification within 30 days
Complete all annual skills checks
Attend in-house mandatory in-services and training
