The Staff RN - Pacemaker uses the nursing process to deliver nursing care to pacemaker/ICD patient care population. The Staff RN - Pacemaker interrogates implanted defibrillators, pacemakers and loop recorders, takes phone calls from device patients, manages remote checks, and collaborates with MDs, RNs and device representatives daily. Nursing care is based on the interpretation and execution of the medical and nursing plan of treatment utilizing established procedures standards and protocols of individuals within the assigned work shift.

Meet with pacemaker representatives to maintain current knowledge of devices and procedures.
Attend educational seminars on pacemaker and ICDs to keep current on changing technology.
Works with physicians to establish protocol for office pacemaker testing and ICD testing.
Provides pacemaker and ICD education to nursing staff and patients.
Supervises exercise treadmill testing according to appropriate protocol.
