Job Description
:
This position is responsible for the delivery of individualized patient care through the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation in accordance with the Standards of Nursing Care and Practice as defined by Ridgeview Medical C enter, the Minnesota Nurse Practice Standards Act, and the ANA Standards of Clinical Nursing Practice.
Job Functions:
Assesses patient health problems needs and develops, implements and evaluates patient care plans accordingly.
Provides nursing care.
Advises and educates patients, family members and significant others on health maintenance and disease prevention for the patient.
Documents and maintains accurate medical records and reports.
Participates in quality improvement activities as appropriate to position.
Serves as a patient advocate in seeking appropriate community resources to meet patient needs.
Interacts with and contributes to the professional development of peers, other healthcare providers, and colleagues to enhance own professional nursing practice.
Demonstrates competencies in the specialty area of Emergency.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education/Work Experience
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
2 years of RN experience on a medical/surgical unit OR 1 year RN experience in an Emergency Department or Critical Care Unit

Ability to work autonomously and as a team
Capable of making independent decisions with the use of good critical thinking and problem solving skills
Ability to work and multi-task in a high stress and fast paced environment
Ability to respond appropriately to unpredictable situations and diverse patient populations
Ability to communicate in the English language for effective written and verbal correspondence in order to complete job functions as mentioned above
License/Certifications
Current professional nurse licensure in Minnesota or if licensed in another state, a permit from the Minnesota Board of Nursing while the license application is in process
BLS Certification
ACLS within 6 months of hire
Successful completion of TNCC within one year of hire
Successful completion of ENPC within two years of hire
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Nursing
3 years RN experience in an Acute Care, Critical Care or Emergency Department
Certified Emergency Nurse certification
