Under supervision of a Registered Professional Nurse and according to established policies and procedures, performs various service duties to provide supervision, companionship, and support to the patient. Helps to maintain patient room in a clean and orderly condition. Specific duties may vary by area of assignment.
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
Education: Requires ability to read, write, and complete an institutional training program.
Knowledge of standards, policies, procedures and organizational structure of the unit, the Department of Patient Care Services, and Maine Medical Center.
Ability to read, write, and speak English in order to follow oral or written instructions and complete standard forms.
Requires the interpersonal skills necessary to exchange information and maintain continuous relationships with patients, visitors, and other MMC employees.
Requires excellent communication skills.
Requires the ability to meet the physical functional demands of the position
Requires the ability to maintain sensitive information in a confidential manner.
Participates in continuing education and competencies relative to role as defined.
