Summary

    • Position Summary
      • The Social Worker position involves the evaluation of psychosocial needs of patients and their families and provision of diagnostic/preventive and treatment services including individual, family and group therapy in the special purpose preschool and in-home team of the Center for Autism and Developmental Disorders. He/She is a member of the IEP team and attends IEP meetings, as well as facilitates treatment team meetings that include family and other relevant providers. The Social Worker works in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team to enact a coordinated treatment plan for family, social, educational and environmental needs. This work is performed under general supervision in accordance with institutional and social work/clinical counselor policies. The Social Worker may supervise other social work/clinical counselors, students or other staff
    • Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
      • Master’s degree in Social Work from an institution accredited by the Council on Social Work Education
      • Knowledge of social work theories, therapies and techniques, as used in individual, family and group treatment, as well principles of social welfare
      • 2+ years of work experience in an educational or mental health setting
      • Proficiency in psychosocial assessment and treatment and considerable knowledge of community resources and agencies and how to use them in resolving complex problems related to health, illness and disability
      • Familiarity with the delivery of school-based services
      • Licensure by the Maine State Board of Social Worker Licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker preferred
      • Licensure by the Maine State Board of Social Worker Licensure as a Licensed Master Social Worker – Clinical Conditional considered
      • Facility with CBT, TF-CBT and other evidence-based modalities preferred
      • Facility with social skills teaching and applied behavior analysis strategies preferred
      • Experience with parent training and the developmental disorders population, including autism and intellectual disability, preferred
