Job Description

Under the direction of the Telecommunications Manager, the Operator will answer a minimum of 250 to 300 internal and external calls per hour, monitor all alarms and implement codes and other duties as directed. Core Competencies Answers and screens outside calls, relays calls to the proper department. Assists patients when placing calls or requesting not to be disturbed. Beeps and pages doctors and authorized personnel when requested. Pages Code Blue, fire alerts, stat calls and disaster drills. Signals all clear when appropriate. Informs appropriate administration and personnel of codes and drills. Maintains updates with departmental information, as well as phone numbers of hospitals within the area, and any other important updates Inventories supplies on a weekly basis; routinely notifies supervisor when supplies are low. Monitors the following alarms: Code Panel/Code Blue, Fire Panel, Elevators/Entrapments, Torrance Police Hot Line/Test Weekly, Gas Alarms, Hearing Impaired, Sump Pump, 88 Emergency Lines Department Specific Competencies Education Degree Program High School Diploma, GED, or Higher Education General Studies Additional Information Experience Number of Years Experience Type of Experience Additional Information N/A License / Certification Requirements
