Job Description


  • Position Summary
    • The Clinician—Developmental Disorders is a position for the professional clinician that involves the evaluation of psychosocial needs of patients/students and their families and provision of treatment services including individual, family and group therapy in the programs of the Developmental Disorders Service. He/She is a member of the treatment team and facilitates treatment team meetings that include family and other relevant providers. The Clinician—Developmental Disorders, works in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team to enact a coordinated treatment plan. This work is performed under general supervision in accordance with institutional and social work policies.
  • Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
    • Education: Master’s degree in Social Work from an institution accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.
    • License/Certifications: Licensure by the Maine State Board of Social Worker Licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker preferred. Licensure by the Maine State Board of Social Worker Licensure as a Licensed Master Social Worker – Clinical Conditional considered.
    • Experience: Experience working with individuals with developmental disorders, including children with autism and intellectual disability. 2+ years of work experience in a mental health setting.
    • Knowledge of social work theories, therapies and techniques, as used in individual, family and group treatment, as well principles of social welfare, as applied to individuals with developmental disorders
    • Proficiency in psychosocial assessment and treatment
    • Considerable knowledge of community resources and agencies and how to use them in resolving complex problems related to health, illness and disability
    • Facility with CBT, TF-CBT and other evidence-based modalities preferred
    • Facility with social skills teaching and behavior support strategies required
    • DOE fingerprinting required
    • Must display strong interpersonal, planning, and analytical skills, professionalism, and maturity
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills
    • Ability to adapt readily to change, work flexibly within a team, and work within a fast-paced environment
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel required
