  • Position Summary
    • Under broad supervision, works as a team member directing the medical nutrition therapy for all the patients/clients. Using advanced clinical knowledge, develops and implements the nutrition program.
  • Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
    • Education: N/A
    • License/Certifications: Must be a registered, licensed dietitian with expertise in the specialty area obtained through education and specialized training and at least two years experience in the specialty area and hold a Maine State Dietitian License.
    • Experience: See "License/Certifications"
    • Work requires three to six months of orientation to acquire necessary familiarity with department policies and procedures.  Orientation also includes training for age-specific populations.
    • Must possess relatively high level of analytical abilities in order to assess patients' medical and nutritional status, formulate care plans and evaluate patients' responses and progress.
    • Must possess high level of interpersonal skills in order to communicate effectively with patients, families, medical staff and employees in explaining and providing nutrition educational information.
    • Work requires ability to concentrate and be attentive to detail when assessing and calculating patients' nutritional needs, developing care plans and providing ongoing evaluation of nutrition.
    • Knowledge of Quality Improvement Principles.
