The Operating Room Surgical Services Specialist works closely with the Clinical Manager and is primarily responsible for the coordination of activities within the appropriate service line. These activities include, but are not limited to, procedure set-up and breakdown, troubleshooting equipment, staff education, trial evaluation, budget requests and item acquisition, checking accuracy of booked cases, preference card management, and process improvements. The Surgical Services Specialist will take direction from the Clinical Manager to fulfill specific specialty needs. The Surgical Services Specialist will also assist Clinical Manager in planning and facilitating staff meetings and staff development. The role is expected to collaborate with an interdisciplinary team of nurses, techs, surgeons, vendors, and various departments to ensure smooth operations and seamless patient care.
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
License/Certifications:Completion of an accredited surgical technology program. Maintains Surgical Technologist Certification.
Experience: Minimum of five years' experience of clinical practice in an Operating Room with at least two years' experience in service specific field.
Demonstrated knowledge of specialty Operating Room equipment and instrumentation.
Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
Ability to adapt to change quickly.
Ability to prioritize workload, handle multiple tasks and to work independently with limited supervision.
Ability to build and maintain solid interdepartmental relationships. 9. Computer proficiency (Word, Excel, Electronic Health Record).
