Registered Nurse (RN) – Central Staffing Resources

Summary

The Resource RN offers a unique opportunity for experienced RNs to expand their knowledge base and sharpen their skill set.  A RN in this position is given the opportunity to train on an array of units at Waldo County General Hospital.  The assortment of floors and units a RN could potentially be assigned to will provide an opportunity to practice in various clinical areas throughout the hospital.  Candidates applying to a Resource RN position must possess the ability to think quickly on their feet, remarkable adaptability and critical thinking expertise. This is a nursing position which requires a broad base of knowledge in nursing theory and practice.  Preferably this RN will have prior critical care experience and flexibility to transition between departments including but not limited to medical-surgical, critical care, and emergency. 

• Position Summary
  • The Registered Nurse provides high quality patient and family centered care; in accordance with the scope of practice defined by the Maine State Board of Nursing. Through collaboration, delegation and communication with members of the healthcare team, the Registered Nurse coordinates and delivers care to a diverse population without discrimination in assigned areas. The Registered Nurse will be flexible and available to work in assigned units as needed serving primarily adult and geriatric acute and critical care patients. The Registered Nurse supports the mission, vision and values of MaineHealth.
• Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
  1. Education: Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program; Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred.
  2. License/Certifications: Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of Maine.    Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS Certification; ACLS and PALS or PEARS preferred.    Certification in area of expertise preferred including annual Electronic Fetal Monitoring competency for any RN assisting laboring women.
  3. Experience: A minimum of three years in an acute care setting. Critical or emergency setting preferred.
  4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills necessary for interacting with patients, physicians, supervisors and other staff
  5. Skill in time management, problem solving, multitasking, prioritizing and medical care coordination
  6. Ability to respond the changing workload based on patient census and to direct, supervise and evaluate care in order to individualize nursing care provided to patients
  7. Ability to maintain professional manner even under stressful situations
