Director, Research Information Technologies (DRIT)
MaineHealth Information Technology and Maine Medical Center Research Institute (MMCRI) are looking for an outstanding Director of Research Information Technology (Director). This is an exciting new system-level leadership position that will help advance MaineHealth’s mission to improve the health of the people of Maine through research and partnerships across the organization.
The Director will focus on providing our research community with well-supported services and tools that meet federal, state and accreditation regulations as well as standards and guidelines for MaineHealth and help us grow research opportunities across our system.
Under the direction of the Senior Director of Enterprise Data Management and in partnership with the Vice President of Research, the Director will participate in the development of research information system strategy and implementation; direct the on-going maintenance and support, architecture, analysis and design services of research information systems; manage the research technology project portfolio and oversee teams of information technology professionals, data analysts and project managers to support internal and external clients of MaineHealth research.
The Director will provide leadership and vision for enterprise research IT services that support faculty and other researchers in all disciplines. Programs and systems under the Director’s leadership will include but are not limited to the Clinical Trials Management System (CTMS), Research IT needs for the MaineHealth EHR (EPIC), the collaboration with Tufts University Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI), research data warehousing needs, big data and analytics, and patient cohort identification platforms.
This position will need to exercise substantial discretion, independent judgment, and decision-making authority. Responsibilities are to be carried out at a significantly high level of technical expertise, providing advice and counsel to the Chief Information Officer, Vice President of Research as well as MaineHealth executive leaders. This position must have deep relationships with executive teams, stakeholders, clinicians, researchers, and technical and business operations teams to successfully develop, implement, and manage the Research Information Technologies program.
The overall leadership of the research informatics platform is tightly coordinated with the MaineHealth Vice President of Research and the broader management and leadership team of MMCRI. The Director will join a dynamic IT team, including MaineHealth’s incoming Chief Information Officer, who brings a strong clinical informatics background. This position will serve as a key role to MaineHealth’s strategic vision, particularly as it relates to the research strategic plan.Committed to being the trusted source for quality care – and careers.
