This position supports Mercy's philosophy of patient centered care by performing administrative and clinical duties in an outpatient setting including limited medication administration in the outpatient setting.
Administers oral, SubQ and IM medications under the direct supervision of an Nurse, Nurse Practitioner and/or Physician.
Demonstrates basic knowledge of medication purpose, side effects and administration procedure.
Performs accurate measurement of patient statistics to include vitals, height and weight.
Manages room turnover and patient flow.
Collects health history and medication list.
Prepares patient for Nurse, Nurse Practitioner and/or physical exam.
Instructs patients as directed by the Nurse, Nurse Practitioner and/or Physician.
Performs front offices duties including telephone, reception, medical records and scheduling.
Practices standard precautions.
Maintains inventory in rooms.
Department Specific Duties
Serves as an immediate triage for medical questions and sends to the Nurse, Pharmacist, Nurse Practitioner and/or Physician.
Administers a cognitive exam as directed by the Nurse Practitioner and/or Physician.
Orders clinic supplies.
Schedules patient appointments in Epic, schedules meetings in Outlook, and performs data entry duties.
Runs reports in Epic and produces recurring updates as directed.
Coordinates with other Mercy departments as needed.
Communicates with external organizations on behalf of the Memory Clinic.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of administrative and clinical functions in a physician office settting.
Adaptability to communicate in ways to best serve the population in the Memory Clinic.
Ability to connect and communicate with care partners.
Knowledge and use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point.
Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to interact with the patient population of adults and people living with dementia.
One year experience working in a medical office setting preferred
Education sufficient to obtain AAMA certification
Licensure, Certification, Registration
AAMA certification required
Iowa Dependent Adult Abuse & Iowa Child Abuse Mandatory Reporter training required. Employee must submit certification of completed training to Human Resources prior to start or transfer date.
