This position is responsible for creating a positive first impression to patients, the complete and accurate registration and scheduling for patients and various administrative duties. In addition, is responsible for serving as a liaison, between patient, provider and the insurance company.
Performs basic receptionist duties to include answering and returning phone calls, retrieving voicemail and maintaining department office equipment and supplies.
Greets and provides courteous customer service to internal and external customers.
Assures accurate processing of patient registration and scheduling.
Scans, files and posts documents into patient charts.
Assures reimbursement through basic insurance processing tasks and coordinates care with Ridgeview Patient Financial Services.
Interfaces with payors to determine benefits and coordinate authorization. Serves as a liaison between patient, insurance company and provider.
Maintains clinic statistics.
Monitors petty cash.
Trains and mentors new and current staff.
Uses advanced skills in managing setup and modification of clinician schedules and extracting data.
Coordinates requests for release of medical information.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education/Work Experience
High school graduate or equivalent
Two years of medical office experience
Knowledge of basic computer functions and Microsoft Office applications
Ability to respond appropriately to unpredictable situations and diverse patient populations
Ability to work autonomously and as a team
Knowledge of Medical Terminology
Intermediate knowledge of insurance information
Ability to multi-task
Ability to communicate in the English language for effective written and verbal correspondence in order to complete job functions as mentioned above
Previous electronic medical software experience
