This position is responsible for assisting in an on-going program of recreational, social and leisure activities for residents.
Implements the unit's activity program.
Carries out activities which meet the needs of all residents. Gives residents opportunities for choices and self-expression.
Documents each activity for each resident in EHR.
Brings to the leader's attention significant issues related to program functioning. Makes suggestions for new and varied activities.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge of a variety of recreational, leisure and social activities
Ability to meet and maintain the necessary background checks as aligned with position functions
Ability to communicate in the English language for effective written and verbal correspondence in order to complete job functions as mentioned above
Knowledge of psychological needs to the aged, mentally ill and physically disabled
Ability to conduct activities providing for the interest and abilities of patients
Ability to lead activities and arts and crafts
Ability to work productively and effectively with patients, families, volunteers and the multidisciplinary team
One year experience working with cognitively impaired elderly in an activity setting
