Job Summary:
This position is responsible for patient access to TriHealth's inpatient services by planning, coordinating, and managing requests for bed assignment and patient placement. Depending on the assigned shift (i.e. evening and/or night), this responsibility may extend to independent decision-making that has an organization-wide impact (i.e. ambulance diversion, patient transfers). In the absence of site specific senior administrators (i.e. nights, weekends, holidays) this position will serve as the on-site leadership for the hospital during assigned shift, negotiating effective problem resolution always keeping the best interest of the customers and organization in mind.
This position understands the financial impact of decisions regarding patient access and resource utilization, and uses this knowledge in decisions regarding patient capacity. Also maintains policies and procedures related to capacity issues. In addition, this position is accountable for on site participation in coordinating departmental/unit activities for a wide range of nursing and ancillary areas as required. Collaborates with nursing management on operational and human resource issues. Contributes information for performance appraisals.
