The Graduate Nurse with a WV Temporary License and under the direct supervision of the licensed nurse plans, coordinates and implements patient care specific to the age of the patient population served on the assigned units. Ensures that quality care is provided in an efficient and safe manner, consistent with the unit’s standards of care. The Graduate Nurse demonstrates performance consistent with the mission, philosophy and goals of the unit and organization; remains flexible to changing systems; is expected to demonstrate quality and effectiveness in work habits and clinical practice; and treats staff, physicians, patients and families with consideration and respect.
For Graduate Nurses without a WV Temporary License, can only perform duties of unlicensed personnel.
Formal Education and Certifications
Graduate from accredited Nursing Program
CPR (if CPR is not current on hire or will expire during department orientation, staff must attend the next available CPR class after hire)
Temporary RN Licensure
Crisis Intervention Class
Face-to-Face RN Training for Restraints
Knowledge and Experience
Basic computer skills
Current knowledge and skills appropriate to the age/type of patient population served, or obtained within probationary period
Knowledgeable and sensitive to patients’ rights in the delivery of care
