The Emergency Unit Secretary provides indirect patient care by meeting the communication needs of the patient/family, departmental staff, and facilitates communication with ancillary departments, medical staff, and outside facilities.
Integral member of the Emergency Department performing specific secretarial and administrative tasks as outlined on the department secretary’s skills checklist and as directed by the medical staff, charge nurse and nursing staff.
Ensures accuracy of the patient record
Communicates clearly and professionally
Assists charge nurse and director with department staffing
Maintains the office supplies of the department
Ensure that the nurse’s station remains clean and orderly
Assists technician with stocking and cleaning when appropriate
Other duties as assigned by the charge nurse or director
High School Diploma or GED preferred.
1 year of related experience preferred

Ability to Multitask and prioritize quickly
Ability to communicate in English both verbal and written
Strong professional communication skills
Basic computer knowledge with demonstrated administrative skills
High level of compassion, desire to help others, and self-confidence
HeartSaver or BLS preferred
PRN (as needed, less than 20 hours per week)
