The Medical Support Technician will provide clinical and administrative support in a variety of clinical settings throughout the Medical Center, including nursing units and clinics. Medical Support Technicians will perform EKG’s; take vital signs and glucometer readings; promptly respond to call lights; ensure food trays are set up appropriately; and assist patients with toileting needs as necessary.
The Medical Support Technician will also provide ancillary and administrative support in and around the nursing station and or clinic to include phone coverage; maintaining inventories for supplies and equipment; providing clerical support for the nurse/clinic; transporting specimens, blood products and prescriptions for patients being discharged. The Medical Support Technicians will be required to float to units other than their primary assignments and perform all other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
High school graduate or equivalent
Certification as a Medical Assistant, Emergency Medical Technician or State Tested Nurse’s Assistant (must have certification upon hire).
Previous experience in a clinical setting desired
BLS (must have current certification upon hire and maintain during employment)
NAPPI (Non-abusive Psychological and Physical Intervention) certification within six months of hire and maintain as current
Superior customer service, communication and organizational skills
Demonstrated PC skills (MS Office, Word, Excel, Outlook)
Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation
