Our Med/Surg Observation Unit is a fast paced 16 bed telemetry/medical-surgical unit. Common problems seen in our unit include chest pain, syncope, congestive heart failure, pneumonia, and diabetes. Our nurse patient ratio ranges from 4-6 patients depending on acuity. Our unit assistant ratio can range from 8-16 patients. Our care team includes a charge nurse and unit assistants with support from respiratory, lab, and case management departments. We orient new nurse unit assistants with a 6-8 week orientation program with a dedicated preceptor team. Assists patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) and assists in the maintenance of a safe and clean environment.
High School diploma or equivalent GED. Certification as a nursing assistant or 6 months of recent experience as a nursing assistant.
Six (6) months of recent experience as a nursing assistant.
Current certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant or one clinical semester of nursing school or successful completion of an acute care nurse aide course; or six (6) months previous experience in a healthcare position can be substituted for the experience.
(Above requirements can be met by the equivalent combination of education and experience).
LICENSURE / CERTIFICATION
Basic Life Support *(BLS) training or re-training is required during orientation prior to providing patient care.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) is required to be maintained through re-training for duration of employment.
Certified Nursing Assistant preferred.
Regular Full Time
