Bear Lake Memorial Hospital is seeking a Sonography Tech to provide information to diagnose patient illnesses by operating sonographic equipment and balance patient interaction and technological performance with a firm knowledge of anatomy and pathology by working cohesively with a healthcare team.
Reports To: Radiology Manager
Experience: 1-2 years experience preferred
Desired Education: Associates Degree
Licensing: Sonography Certificate
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: (This list is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all responsibilities and duties required)
Performing the ultrasound and ensuring the transducer (probe) is capturing images correctly
Explaining the ultrasound procedure to patients in order to avoid confusion
Maintaining ultrasound equipment and sterilizing the room in which the procedure takes place
Spreading the ultrasound gel on the surface of the patient’s body to cover the internal area being imaged
Evaluating the images for their quality, and interpreting what the image captured
Presenting images and preliminary findings to physicians and the healthcare tech
Maintaining patient records and adding medical notes related to the ultrasound procedure
Documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records.
Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Consistently works cooperatively with patients/residents, co-workers, physicians, consultants and ancillary service providers.
Consistently supports compliance and the principles of responsibility by maintaining the privacy and confidentiality of information, protecting the assets of the organization, acting with ethics and integrity, reporting non-compliance, and adhering to applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations, accreditation and licenser requirements (if applicable), and Bear Lake Memorial’s policies and procedures.

Education/Training/Experience: Current Sonography license in the State of Idaho. Comprehensive knowledge of current diagnostic procedures. Have knowledge of and ability to use Medical technology sonographic equipment. Thorough knowledge of community organizations and the factors related to patient care. Ability to plan, organize and direct the training and activities of others. Ability to interpret existing and proposed health programs as they affect the radiology department of BLMH. Ability to work cooperatively with others. Ability to communicate effectively. Works and communicates effectively with all members of the healthcare team. Need an excellent knowledge of the equipment and processes used in the laboratory. Demonstrates respect and understanding of others.
