Occ Summary

Perform a variety of specialized, complex activities in the coordination of Human Resources (HR) for a large department. Strong emphasis on proactive problem resolution and departmental communications.

Work Performed


As the Talent Acquisition (Recruitment), Human Resources Specialist, you will be responsible for supporting recruiting initiatives that are critical to the success of the Talent Acquisition function and the Duke Nursing and Patient Care Services Recruitment organization. In this role you will support a variety of recruitment related responsibilities, most importantly the scheduling of candidates for onsite interviews with the recruitment and hiring team and delivering an exceptional candidate experience. This role will also assist in other areas of the recruiting lifecycle.



  • Primary support for recruiters, candidates and hiring managers scheduling interviews with hiring managers and stakeholders for various roles
  • Assist with the interview process (schedule recruiter phone screens, coordinate in-person interviews, reserve interview rooms, set up video-based interviews, act as main point of contact between candidates and Duke Nursing and Patient Care Services Recruitment as is relates to scheduling)
  • Communicate logistics to candidates regarding their onsite interviews; advance candidates in the ATS (Success Factors) once schedules are finalized
  • Coordinate the onsite interview experience with hiring managers including greeting candidates when they arrive and transitioning between interviewers or campus locations during the process while keeping candidate experience top-of-mind
  • Schedule interview feedback sessions when appropriate
  • Assist with candidate pre-employment process
  • Additional duties as assigned


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Experience or exposure to an Applicant Tracking system (Success Factors preferred).
  • Strong administrative and technical skills to include but not limited to: Word, Excel (ability to extract data and create pivot tables and use formulas & functions), and PowerPoint.
  • Outstanding client service focus, patience with hiring managers but can also act on urgent requests.
  • Employment history must include strong attendance record and history of being on time and reliable.
  • Possess a positive “can do” attitude even when faced with unexpected situations.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and meet deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality results and on-time deliverables.
  • Ability to use appropriate judgment related to challenges encountered during onsite interviews and can solve for these challenges quickly.




Work requires knowledge of basic communications, research and education. Mathematical principles normally acquired through a high school diploma.

At least 1 year of administrative support experience; a Bachelor’s degree in HR or related field and 1 year of related work experience strongly preferred.
