This position is responsible for providing individualized care to patients in an emergency setting according to established standards, policies and procedures.
Prepares and transports patients for examination.
Assists emergency staff in direct and non-direct patient care functions as delegated.
Performs EKGs and point of care testing.
Applies splints and braces on patients as ordered assuring good CMS after application.
Performs mandatory equipment checks.
Documents the various aspects of care on appropriate forms according to RMC policies and procedures.
Accompanies ambulance transports and assists with airway management as needed.
Demonstrates competencies in the specialty area of Emergency.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education/Work Experience/License/Certifications
High school graduate or equivalent
Completion of a Nursing Assistant or EMT Course OR completion of a Nurse Internship with Ridgeview Medical Center
Current Healthcare Provider CPR certification
Receive MOAB Certification within 6 months of hire
Strong communication and listening skills
Knowledge of basic computer functions
Ability to respond appropriately to unpredictable situation and diverse patient populations
Ability to work autonomously and as a team
Capable of making independent decisions with the use of good critical thinking and problem solving skills
Ability to work and multi-task in a high stress and fast paced environment
Ability to communicate in the English language for effective written and verbal correspondence in order to complete job functions as mentioned above
Experience as a Nursing Assistant or EMT
Experience in a hospital setting
