Provide and coordinate organization-wide support and training to providers and nursing end-users of Epic (Excellian). Participate in the implementation, support, and functional testing of Excellian. Assist with staff professional development and Excellian education. Subject matter expert for clinic and hospital workflows within Excellian to include providers and nursing.
Selected candidate will be expected to attend and achieve Allina credentialed status for all nursing modules in order to provide instruction to Welia clinical staff.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND COMPETENCIES include the following.
Excellian Trainer – 20 percent
Providers, nursing (inpatient & ambulatory), med students, and other clinical departments
Develop and deliver training programs, taking into consideration adult learning styles, for new staff and ongoing education to all staff as necessary.
Ensure training is effective through participant feedback and reevaluating and modifying training as needed.
Use a variety of training tools for ongoing training of new features, upgrades, or changes to Excellian as needed.
Work with Allina training staff to keep current on training credential.
Excellian Provider Liaison – 10 percent
Assist Providers with chart corrections/trouble shooting Excellian
Create and tune smartphrases and templates for provider documentation
Preference lists – create, modify and support
Assist with HIM communications to providers on proper workflow, billing, chart corrections, etc.
Assist with staff communications to providers concerning charting errors/improvement/optimization
Excellian Electronic Access Requests (EAR) and Token Requests – 10 percent
All providers and nursing staff
Attend Allina Excellian User Groups – 10 percent
ED, inpatient, Physician, Optime, Nursing Super User, etc.
Excellian Affiliate Site Support – 10 percent
Troubleshooting, reproduction of problems and testing new functionality
Communication of new functionality/updates to appropriate staff
Capture screen shots for Quality reporting
Assist with Allina tickets, provider Hotline and offsite visits as necessary
Excellian Upgrades – 10 percent
Attend classes, provide training/communication
Assist with issue reporting and establishing/tracking Allina tickets
Workflow Optimization – 5 percent
Outpatient services, ed standardization – consultant on all EMR workflows
Biomedical Device Interface – 5 percent
GE telemetry equipment, OBIX perinatal system, bedside barcoding scanners, Dragon hardware & software
Troubleshoot Windows vs Excellian printing issues
Downtime Form Management – 5 percent
Inpatient nursing (med/surg, ICU, OB), outpatient surgery, and ER
Medication Safety Committee – 5 percent
Demonstrate and instruct clinical staff how Excellian tools can help/hinder
Order Set Committee – 5 percent
Review and approve order sets/changes
Submission of all order set changes from all departments to Allina
Cooperation/Teamwork – 5 percent
Participate in IT department meetings.
Work with other department managers and IT staff on inter-disciplinary workflows; looking for areas of improvement or optimization.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
RN license required. EMR experience in a clinic setting required; Epic (Excellian) knowledge, super user, or subject matter expert preferred. Previous education and classroom instruction experience required. Strong computer skills and utilization of Microsoft Office tools, required.
