Job Description

Education: BA or BS degree in Accounting, Finance or IT or equivalent work experience in lieu of advanced degree Skills: Strong Excel Skills. Exceptional knowledge of CPT, ICD9, and understanding of ICD10 codes. Exceptional phone manner. Strong work ethic and a positive, professional attitude. Detailed oriented and organized. Strong communication skills. Experience: Solid working knowledge of third party payer’s requirements. Managing experience a plus. Prior experience working with Practice Management and EMR systems A minimum of 5 years of billing systems experience preferably in Health Care. CPC Coding Certification a plus 1. Check CPT and Diagnosis codes for appropriate description of services rendered for both hospital and office services. 2. Ensure medical necessity is satisfied for billing of CPT/ICD-10 combinations. 3. Research insurance eligibility, PCP status, referral required status, global periods, and needed modifiers. 4. Research missing information. 5. Enter all valid charges while performing reconciliation to appointment schedule and hospital logs. 6. Correct rejections from failed validations. 7. Take and resolve patient billing calls. 8. Review and evaluate denied claims for resubmission. 9. Prepare reports by collecting and analyzing information utilizing billing software. 10. Ensure the quality of data performed by the billing staff. 11. Communicate to physicians and staff common errors and new billing changes. 12. Provide coding/compliance education to providers when needed 13. Conduct yearly billing and compliance updates for providers 14. Assist with various IT initiatives occurring in HPS, including clinical EMR training.. 15. Complete projects on a timely basis and assimilate directives easily. 16. Perform all duties as assigned by Director of Finance, HNPN /Director Medical Records. 17. Adhere to all HIPAA standards
