Job Description

Position Summary:
The Assistant Controller will be responsible for managing the accounting and reporting functions through a solid understanding of business processes, systems, and an in-depth knowledge of current generally accepted accounting principles and guidance.  This position will be an integral part of the finance and accounting team and will report to the Controller.

Essential Functions:
  • Manage and coordinate monthly accounting close process, including reviewing journal entries and general ledger activity for corporate activities including but not limited to debt, fixed assets and capitalization policies
  • Lead implementation efforts for fixed asset and lease accounting applications
  • Review balance sheet reconciliations
  • Perform revenue and expense analysis in connection with monthly close
  • Preparation of monthly financial statements and year-end financial report, including footnote disclosures
  • Preparation and delivery of monthly joint venture reporting packages
  • Support the financial reporting requirements of the business and key stakeholders including management, operational leaders, board of directors, and investors
  • Provide financial liaison support to operations ensuring appropriate accounting of activity and meaningful analysis in support of operational strategies
  • Lead technical accounting and compliance with US GAAP, including drafting of memos, interpretation of accounting guidance, and analysis related to business transactions and new standard implementation
  • Provide guidance and support for financial statement audits by liaising with the external auditors and coordinating audit requests
  • Ensure compliance with company accounting controls and procedures
  • Ability to grow scalable accounting and control processes and lead a team at the pace of business growth
  • Drive continuous analysis of existing systems and processes. Identify process and control deficiencies and work with leadership to implement changes
  • Assist the Controller in representing the accounting department in strategic cross-functional projects
  • Supervise, develop, train, and retain accounting staff
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local legal tax filings through coordination with external tax providers
Educational/Experience Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to foster a positive work environment
  • CPA required.
  • High level of experience with GAAP research and application
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Healthcare industry experience, including joint ventures preferred
  • Minimum 7 years of professional accounting experience; public accounting manager level experience preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of management experience
  • Desire to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Must have strong business acumen, attention to detail, and critical thinking and analysis skills
  • Ability to adapt and maintain a positive attitude in an ever changing and growing environment
Qualifications/Skills:
