Job Description

The Center for Student Leadership (CSL) Transition Programs Coordinator (TPC) manages the development of programmatic efforts aimed at engaging new students through orientation and beyond. In addition, the TPC contributes to the overall design, planning, and implementation of new undergraduate student orientation including the Student Parent Orientation Program (SPOP), the Transfer Student Parent Orientation Program (T-SPOP), and mini-TSPOP, and takes primary responsibility for the design and implementation of the International Student Parent Orientation Program (ISPOP), and alternative language programs for parents/guardians (e.g. Spanish SPOP). The CSL Program Coordinator for New Students is independently responsible for managing ISPOP, Spanish SPOP, and the Thrive@UCI course and supports other programs as assigned. The CSL TPC assists with recruiting, hiring and training Orientation Coordinators. They also assist with recruiting, hiring and training CSL Interns, and managing the CSL student staff workspace.   Compensation Range:   Hourly: $21.54 - $29.29   Department Website:   http://studentlife.uci.edu/leadership   Required:   BA/BS degree with 3 years’ experience working with student leadership programs, new student orientation, and/or international student programs; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Demonstrated skills in the areas of program planning and advisement; including conceptualizing, organizing and directing programs. Knowledge and practice of student development theory. Proven ability to work effectively with diverse populations including students, faculty, and staff from different cultural backgrounds. Basic knowledge of and experience in working with, supervising, and training college and university students involved in leadership programs. Experience in developing collaborative relationships with other campus departments. Writing, editing, and publication experience indicating a strong attention to detail. Demonstrated written and oral communication skills. High level of energy, flexibility, and the ability to work independently. Excellent organizational skills including an ability to oversee a wide variety of activities, to identify problems, propose and implement effective solutions, and re-prioritize competing priorities. Ability to collect, analyze, interpret, evaluate, and summarize data. Superior customer service, interpersonal, and communication capabilities.   Preferred:   Experience studying and/or living abroad. Knowledge about a wide variety of countries and cultures. Familiarity with international political, social and cultural issues as they pertain to educational exchange. Knowledge of academic departments and academic culture at a large research university.   Final candidate subject to background check.
