Job Description
The Nursing Informatics Specialist nurse who is responsible for reviewing, planning, training, implementing, evaluation and optimization of clinical I.T. efforts and projects. This position serves as the primary interface between nursing, physician, patient care services, clinical applications and to ensure project coordination. This position also participates in communications and project planning regarding system implementation and integration with other OSU Medical Center initiatives. This individual must have previous working experience in a clinical hospital setting, with preferred experience of medical-surgical or critical care nursing, regulatory mandates, clinical quality initiatives and training experience training clinical staff. Minimum education bachelor's degree in nursing and three (3) years of clinical (inpatient medical surgical, emergency, or critical care). Prefer five (5) years progressive inpatient medical surgical, emergency, or critical care, informatics related experience, previous experience conducting training, project management experience. Required skills, knowledge, and abilities: excellent written and oral communication skills, excellent interpersonal communication, problem solving, and conflict resolution skills, Evidence of ability to function with a high degree of independence while actively collaborating with health care members providing care for highly complex patients, knowledge and skills in quality improvement methodologies, knowledge of the inpatient nursing process and nursing practice, and knowledge of current literature that impacts technology/information needs.
