The Surgical floor is a 46-bed floor specializing in the field of surgical and urological care. We provide care to patients pre and post-procedural as well as manage surgical and chronic wounds. We also provide education to patients and their family to ensure competent care, once discharged home, with or without the assistance of home health nursing. A unique aspect of our floor is our nurses are well educated in the workings of all body systems and are familiar with an innumerable amount of acute and chronic illnesses. Our comprehensive team of physicians, nurses, physician assistants, advanced practice nurses, case managers, social workers, and ancillary staff work together to ensure our patient’s experience here at McLeod is an excellent one.
The Registered Nurse utilizes the nursing process to address the holistic needs of patients and their significant others, during hospitalization, and preparation for discharge. Reporting to the Unit Director, the Registered Nurse may supervise the work of other Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, and assist personnel in efforts to deliver care for a prescribed shift of time. The Registered Nurse is responsible for the quality of care directly rendered and that he/she delegates to others.
