Clinical Decision Unit
After the emergency room, but before hospital admission or discharge home, sometimes patients visit the Medical Observation Unit at Mercy Cedar Rapids. While doctors decide the next step in a patient’s treatment post-emergency visit, the Medical Observation team provides comprehensive care to help that person be as comfortable as possible in a quiet space away from the high-traffic emergency department. If you like caring for a wide variety of diagnoses and a patient population that changes every day, you’ll love being part of this fast-paced care team. Though each day is different on the Medical Observation Unit, one thing stays the same—the compassionate care of The Mercy Touch is always delivered.
