The Health Service Registered Nurse is responsible to fill in and assist the Health Service Coordinator with employee Health issues of the St. Lukes employees and students. Direction comes from the Health Service Coordinator.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Is aware of hospital and department compliance requirements for federally funded healthcare programs (e.g. Medicare and Medicaid) regarding fraud, waste and abuse. Brings any questions or concerns regarding compliance to the immediate attention of department or hospital administrative staff.
Purposefully conducts all aspects of the job in an ethical manner in support of the hospital’s commitment to ethical behavior in all areas of personal and professional activity.
Plans, organizes, delivers, and evaluates employee, student and volunteer care.
Assists in determining priorities and in guidance of other nursing associates in the department.
Skilled, organized and efficient in performing required nursing activities.
Resource for infection control, Blood or body fluid exposure, tuberculosis, and Hepatitis.
Participates in Quality Assurance.
Fills in at group meeting when the Health Service Coordinator absents.
Running of special clinics set up for employee health needs.
Maintains a positive relationship with members of administrative and management groups, medical staff, and co-workers.
Contacts immediate supervisors for each employee being seen at Work Well.
Applies current cost containment.
Supports work within the budget guidelines.
Complies with state, local and federal laws.
Effectively complies with voluntary accreditation as accepted by the hospital.
The Health Service Registered Nurse will be a graduate of a state approved nursing program and will have a current RN license or a temporary license.
Must be licensed in the state of Iowa.
Current CPR certification.
Acute care setting or Physician office setting experience helpful.
Familiar with OSHA.
Current experience with blood born pathogens.
Knowledgeable of St. Lukes policy for Blood Born Pathogens.
Resource for Hepatitis infection/treatment.
Basic computer knowledge.
Infection control policies.
Information source for Tuberculosis exposures/positive reactor.
Ability to deal with mass exposures of infectious diseases for St. Lukes employees.
