Services provided at the hospital include emergency medical care, orthopedic surgeries, maternity, and behavioral health services. � Patient Access Representative This position is responsible for greeting, collecting and processing all non-scheduled patients to gather the necessary demographic information required in accordance with all regulations and hospital policies to provide care for the patients, procure reimbursement verification from third parties and maintain records appropriately.�� Essential Job�Duties: Capable of using manuals to locate appropriate CPT codes. Displays excellent customer service skills while interacting with customers via phone, e-mail, correspondence or in person. Ability to explain all required forms inherent to the registration process. i.e.; Living Will, MSP questionnaire, financial authorization, Search America release, etc.� Demonstrates the ability to utilize all types of office equipment such as fax machine, scanner, copier, embosser, etc. Demonstrates a good understanding of Insurance processing requirements i.e.; (verification, authorization, terms, requirements and regulations). Demonstrates a good understanding of all current UHS policies pertaining to the registration process for the handling of patient accounts.� Has a basic understanding of medical terminology. Familiar with all current computer applications used in the customer access department such as but not limited to, SMS, HDX, Search America,Document Imaging, Medical Necessity screening, etc.� Can accurately calculate patient liability based on information obtained through verification process.� Understands incident command role and responsibility.� Capable of using Microsoft Excel to calculate patient liability (out of pocket template). Demonstrates a good understanding of the charity policy is capable of screening all patients for possible assistance.�� Understands patient placement procedures and can initiate proper bed retrieval depending upon patient type/condition. Able to read and interpret a credit report. Familiar with patient valuable collection and disbursement procedure. Able to read and interpret managed care contracts.� Familiar with all current hospital managed care contracts. Performs all other duties as assigned.
Associate degree in business or related major required. Equivalent office experience may be considered in lieu of degree. Minimum of two (2) years experience in a health care facility or equivalent position. Medical Terminology (Basic), Phone etiquette, Microsoft excel, good mathematical skills, detail oriented.
