Job Description

The purpose of your job position is to perform the day-to-day activities of the Housekeeping Department which include: cleaning resident living areas, recreation areas; patient rooms, halls, lobbies, restrooms, laundry areas and stairways. These activities will be in accordance with current state, federal, and local standards, guidelines and regulations governing our facility to assure that our facility is maintained in a clean, safe, and sanitary manner.   Description:   Performs cleaning in conformance to prescribed standards of cleanliness; Follow established policies governing the use and disposal of personal protective equipment and disposal of infectious wastes; Coordinate daily housekeeping and laundry services with manager when performing routine assignments in resident living and/or recreational areas; Report all hazardous conditions to your supervisor; Maintain a clean and safe work zone; Knock and introduce yourself before entering a patient or resident room; Clean and sanitize sinks, counters, tubs, showers, and toilets; vacuum carpets, upholstered furniture, draperies; dust furniture and equipment; Make beds for every discharge and transfer, and wash weekly for residents; Complete laundry activities; i.e. wash, dry, fold linens and personal laundry; Clean walls and ceilings by washing, wiping, dusting, spot cleaning, disinfecting, deodorizing, etc.; Remove dirt, dust, grease, film, etc., from surfaces using proper cleaning/disinfecting solutions;  Replenish both bathroom and common restrooms supplies; Ensure that an adequate supply of housekeeping supplies to perform daily tasks is maintained in utility/janitorial closets and cleaning carts & advise manager of supply needs; Ensure that an adequate supply of linen is on hand at all times to meet the needs of the residents; Notify manager regarding burnt out light bulbs and call lights needing repair; Renders personal assistance to patrons (i.e. assisting with Telephone, Remote, etc.); Must maintain the confidentiality of all resident care information including protected health information. Report known or suspected incidents of unauthorized disclosure of such information and adhere to Resident’s rights; Must be able to relate information concerning a resident’s condition; Must be willing to work harmoniously with other personnel as well as be willing to handle residents based on whatever maturity level at which they are currently functioning; Perform other work-related duties and activities as assigned or requested


Must be able to read, write and communicate in the English language; Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public; High school graduate or equivalent preferred
