Professional dress required according to system dress code policy. Provide a variety of services which contribute to an overall pleasant customer experience in a senior population setting. Friendliness and efficiency a must. Responsible for providing group and individual transportation in all medical and leisure areas (non CDL van/bus/car). Assures proper operation of vehicle by notifying facility Plant Ops of any identified issues. Safety transfers residents in and out of vehicle and assists with ambulation when needed. Represents organization in a positive manner.
Education: High School graduate or equivalent, degree in hospitality or relevant field a plus
Experience: Preferred experience working with senior adults and driving large passenger vehicle with the understanding of the value of excellent customer service. Knowledge of local businesses, entertainment venues and travel options.
Scheduling trips within the established transportation schedule upon request, maintain logs, performing vehicle inspection, maintaining first aid kit, communicating with residents and staff concerning transportation questions.
Transferring residents to vehicles and safely transporting in car or non CDL vehicle to and from destination
Reporting to Department Director observations made of residents during transportation
Maintaining contact with residents concerning personal shopping needs
Assisting with in-house events
Acting as a point of reference by acquiring extensive knowledge of the surrounding area and venues as to make suitable recommendations
Maintain transportation schedule for residents taking into account order requests received, facilitating alternate transportation when medical needs are a priority, confirming appointments with independent living residents
Assisting with other department functions, i.e. setting up facility events, creating signup sheets, flyers, etc.. clerical work
Provide sitter service and companionship
License/Registration: Must have valid driver’s license with a clean driving record. Current CPR certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) is required.
Other: Must pass through insurance carrier. Proficient with Xcel, Office, Word and Publisher. Excellent communication skills. Polite and confident with a great deal of patience. Ability to multitask and time management. Proficient in use of GPS (Global Positioning System).
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Requires occasional pushing 30 pounds. Occasional standing, walking, sitting, bending. Functional vision and hearing. Occasionally lift and carry 15 pounds. Visual color discrimination and visual depth perception. Ability to enter and exit passenger vehicle and step up and down three steps to enter van/bus.
