Position Description: This is skilled technical work providing surgical nursing care in the operating room of the surgery department for adult and geriatric patients. This work is performed in accordance with recognized nursing standards, established hospital policies and procedures, and instructions from the registered nurse, surgery charge nurse, operating room coordinator or nursing manager. Work is performed under direct supervision and is subject to close inspection upon completion. Effective performance requires the ability to adjust to new methods, techniques, and procedures. Job Requirements: Education: Required - Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist training program with a current certification Licenses/Certifications: Required - · Current CPR certification · Must be a Certified Surgical Technologist Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: · Must demonstrate skills for solving problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where standardization may not always exist · Must demonstrate skills for measurement, calculations, reading charts, graphs and scoring · Must demonstrate critical reasoning skills in order to make safe judgments, evaluate relevancy of data for critical decision making, identify needs for changes in patient issues, integrate and apply theory to practice (i.e. identify needs, establish goals, select appropriate interventions and evaluate outcomes) · Extended periods of standing/walking are required
