This position is responsible for the coding of all service encounters by all providers at the clinic. Classifies medical data from patient records and assigns numeric codes for each diagnosis and procedure. Enters charge information into the Practice Management system for the professional level of E&M coding. This position demands a thorough knowledge of current coding practices, guidelines, and conventions to ensure proper coding and optimal reimbursement.
Formal Education and Certifications:
High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
Credentialed Coder through American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) or the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA).
Knowledge and Experience
Minimum two year experience in physician office, or current Certification and successful completion of Princeton Community Hospital Medical Coding Orientation and training.
Knowledge of medical terminology
Proficient in computer and typing
Professional telephone etiquette and secretarial skills
Ability to work well with the public
