Job Description

The PRN Phlebotomist will follow all established specimen collection, labeling, transportation, and handling procedures and demonstrate engagement with achieving department goals and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate has the knowledge and ability to perform laboratory procedures in accordance with regulations; has analytical and critical thinking abilities; has the ability to comprehend and communicate instructions; can multitask; has the ability to use computers and related software applications such as Cerner Millennium ; has knowledge of safety and infection control standards and has the ability to work collaboratively with others.  Under the general supervision of the Laboratory Director, the phlebotomist performs all specimen collection procedures for all age groups in a prompt, courteous, and professional manner according to established hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Must be able to promptly, efficiently and accurately perform phlebotomy on all age groups. Must be able to work variable shifts as well as availability on weekdays, weekends and holidays. Must be able to answer the phone in a courteous and professional manner.  Must be able to perform basic clerical duties. Requirements High School degree or GED is required 1 to 3 years of relevant clinical experience is preferred American Society of Clinical Pathologist Certification is preferred
