JOB SUMMARY:

The FMG Specialist (Construction Safety) is responsible for monitoring and evaluating various life safety and construction safety programs to include facility inspection, fire safety training, and ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations governing construction safety activities.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Determine type and verify interim life safety measures and barriers as determined through pre­ construction risk assessment.
  • Interact in person and in writing with contractors, project managers, owner representatives, end users and other stakeholders regarding project-related effects on safety, life safety and facility operations.
  • Document safety-related project planning, monitoring and follow-up activities in writing and/or with photographs and maintain records for applicable surveys.
  • Conduct and monitor training programs as needed.
  • Review BIM/CADD drawings and phasing plans with project teams to assess interim life safety measures and life safety designs needed.
  • Monitor construction safety program integrity and facilitate collaboration with project teams.
  • Make formal recommendations for ILSMs and other protective measures.
  • Possess and use strong background in Life Safety Code and construction safety standards.

Education:

Degree: Bachelors required.  Masters degree preferred.

  • Prefer  major  in  Safety  Management,  Construction  Management,  Industrial  Engineering,  or Occupational  Safety.

Training/Experience:

  • Minimum five to seven years experience in related discipline required.
  • Minimum three (3) years experience in healthcare preferred.
  • Knowledge  of  State  and  Federal  OSHA,  NFPA,  The  Joint  Commission,  EPA  and  CDC laws/regulations required. Knowledge of State Building Codes/Fire Codes preferred.
  • CSP, CFPS, CHC Pcertifications preferred
