The Department of Psychiatry at Maine Medical Center is seeking a full time BC psychiatrist for a leadership position in Adult Outpatient Psychiatry, as a medical director and faculty clinician-educator in Portland, Maine.
As an integral part of a growing mental health system and an integrated healthcare system, the Medical Director will provide direct clinical care for adults and will supervise an interdisciplinary treatment team. Additionally, the Medical Director will actively participate in planning for service delivery and coordination of care as part of a larger mental health system as well as with the medical community of Maine Medical Center. The Medical Director plays a critical role in optimizing patient care. This position works collaboratively with program leaders to create a patient centered environment and to achieve clinical excellence.
In addition to clinical care, the Adult Outpatient Psychiatry Service is a major teaching resource for Maine Medical Center. We offer psychiatry training experiences for adult psychiatry residents, child & adolescent psychiatry fellows, Tufts University School of Medicine medical students, and trainees in other fields. The successful candidate will be employed by Maine Medical Partners (MMP), a subsidiary of MMC and Maine’s largest multi-specialty group, serving patients throughout the state and in Northern New England. This high quality team of nearly 600 physicians and 300 advanced practice professionals is based at MMC and delivers care through a network of 30 locations across the State and acts as a regional referral network.
Maine Medical Center has 637 beds and is the state's leading tertiary care hospital and only Level 1 Trauma Center with a full complement of residencies and fellowships and integration with Tufts University School of Medicine. The Emergency Department at Maine Medical Center is comprises 63 beds, including the embedded 6 bed secure Acute Psychiatry Unit.
