Functioning within the Health System’s mission, values, objectives, procedures and policies, the Lead Ultrasound Technologist performs a varietyof ultrasound exams (both invasive and non-invasive) including abdominal, OB-GYN and vascular, that may require independent judgment, and assists physician with certain invasive procedures. Lead Tech responsibilities include overseeing the workflow and assigning work to professional and non-professional staff; coordinating staff functions to provide quality care, instituting and maintaining policies and procedures in assigned areas, and assisting with the budget for the department. The Lead Tech also prepares the quality assurance program for the department and maintains ACR accreditation. The Lead Tech collaborates with the Director, Ultrasound associates, and other stakeholders to meet Associate and Physician Engagement, Patient Satisfaction, Quality and Financial goals.
Education:Graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program, Vascular Sonography program or Radiologic Technology program.
Licensure/Certification: Certification by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) in AB, OB/GYN and RVT or certification by the ARRT in sonography and vascular sonography. BLS required.
Experience: Superior competency of ultrasound practices with minimum of 5 years experience required.
Previous supervisory experience preferred.
Skills: Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the demonstrated ability to exhibit patience and tact and maintain a professional and courteous demeanor in all situations with all constituents including patients, physicians and other associates. Must also demonstrate flexibility with work schedule changes, be cooperative and collaborative, and have the documented ability to work with speed and proficiency while under stress. Performs a variety of ultrasound exams including abdominal, OB-GYN and vascular.
