Provides first-line supervision to predominately remote outpatient facility medical coders. Provides and/or arranges necessary knowledge based resources required by the coding staff to meet quality and production standards. Provides adequate coverage for volumes. Complies, analyzes and presents data related to performance, compliant billing and documentation issues to Coding Manager. Works to resolve coding and documentation issues, allowing for timely filing of outpatients hospital claims.
Must be credentialed through AHIMA as a RHIA (Registered Health Information Administrator), RHIT (Registered Health Information Technician) or CCS (Certified Coding Specialist) or credentialed through AAPC as a CPC-H.
Excellent communication and writing skills are required. Must have extensive knowledge of medical terminology, human anatomy and physiology. Extensive knowledge of Windows 95 and MS Outlook required. Must type a minimum of 35 wpm.

If CPC certified, requires a minimum of 5 years of coding experience in a hospital setting; If CCS certified or RHIT credentialed, requires a minimum of 2 years of coding experience in a hospital setting; If RHIA credentialed, previous coding experience in a hospital setting is preferred.
