Job Description

Under the direction of the Nurse Manager, the Supervisor will facilitate the successful functioning of the emergency center through communication, working knowledge of departmental and hospital policy, and rapport with nursing staff, medical staff, and ancillary departments. In this position, the Supervisor will foster teamwork and enhance performance of all ED staff members by providing feedback, fairly administering policies and procedures, setting goals, conducting performance reviews, and supporting continuing education. This person also oversees day to day operations, such as maintaining staffing levels and patient assignments, receiving/distributing patient reports from EMS and referrals, communicating with staff MD, House Supervisors and the Admitting Office. The Supervisor in this position will function as a professional RN for patient care, when necessary to augment the nursing staff. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Completion of accredited Associate’s degree in Nursing, AND either a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Education, Business, Health Sciences, Behavioral Science, Life Science or approved field – OR - currently enrolled in a healthcare related Baccalaureate degree program with an established date of completion OR Bachelor’s degree in Nursing Experience: Four years as an Emergency Center Nurse Licensure/ Registration/ Certification: Current licensure as a Registered Nurse by the State of Minnesota Current BLS, TNCC, ACLS certification Current ENPC or PALS certification Professional Emergency Nursing Certification (CEN or CPEN) within 1 year of hire Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Excellent communication skills with the ability and desire to develop effective working relationships within and outside of the Emergency Department.
