This position performs activities of daily living (ADLs) on a daily basis, provides patient care treatments including discontinuing IV's and restraint monitoring, and collects patient data including vital signs, weights, intake & output. This position also collects routine patient specimens such as urine, stool, and finger stick blood glucose as directed. Patient Care Assistants respond to call lights and requests, and assist nurses with procedures as requested. This position also documents and charts care provided in the electronic health record.
High school diploma or GED required.
Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS) CPR Card required.
AND one of the following:
Completion of a certified nursing assistant (CNA) training program required, certification preferred (must have occurred in the last 5 years);
Experience in an acute care/long term care setting as a Nursing Assistant (minimum 520 hours; must have occurred in the last 5 years)
Completion of one clinical rotation in a RN or LPN program within the past 12 months
Experience as an Emergency Room Technician (6 months at a minimum of 0.5 FTE)
This position is located on our South 11 Trauma/Surgery Unit. This position will work straight evening shifts throughout the 2 week pay period. All scheduling is handled at a department level and the rotation of the work schedule will be reviewed during the in-person interview with the nurse manager.
