Job Description: Regions Hospital’s Histopathology Department is currently seeking a self-motivated, quality-focused Pathologists’ Assistant to join our team. A Pathologists’ Assistant is a professional who is qualified by academic and practical training to provide service in anatomic pathology under the direction of a qualified Pathologist who is responsible for the performance of the Assistant. As a Pathologists’ Assistant at Regions Hospital you will join an innovative and collaborative group of professionals in our newly remodeled laboratory designed for ergonomics and workflow. Our team has also recently launched a new laboratory information system designed to provide efficiency and patient safety across our family of care laboratories. Your work will support Regions Hospital as well as six other suburban hospitals and over twenty clinics in our network. This position will perform anatomic gross tissue analysis and preparation, postmortem examinations, maintain pathology records, assist Pathologists in preparing patient records, maintain quality assurance, maintain a healthy workplace and safe environment , and perform related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: Education: Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Pathology Assistants study OR a Baccalaureate degree with a major or minor in any of the biological or allied health sciences and 3 years of Pathologists’ Assistant on the job training required. Experience: None Licensure/ Registration/ Certification: Certification as a Pathologist Assistant by the American Association of Pathologist Assistants (AAPA) or American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) within 15 months of hire. Monday- Friday Day and Evenings Off premise calls weekends and holidays
