Job Description

This position oversees the completion of task and duties of the food service operation ensuring each area is performing at full potential. This position is responsible for overseeing the timeliness of preparation, service and distribution of food to patients, visitors and hospital employees. Oversees the infection prevention and food safety monitoring in the daily operations of nutrition services. To motivate and support employees towards the common goal of providing smooth, timely and efficient services. This position is the primary connection between patient care team and nutrition services. To assist in the hiring process of employees and oversee the onboarding of new employees. To conduct performance evaluations and assist in daily and ongoing staffing needs. Responsibilities also include developing, maintaining and evaluating programs, policies and procedures and improvement processes to assure ongoing excellent nutrition care and services. The position reports to their assigned Manager and performs other duties as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education: High School diploma or equivalent Experience: Four years of experience in food service, healthcare, hospitality or related field OR Bachelor’s degree in healthcare, hospitality, business or related field, may substitute for two years of experience Licensure/ Registration/ Certification: Serve Safe certification and Food Manager certification through the State of Minnesota within 6 months of hire Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: •Ability to read, follow oral and written directions, in English. •Ability to prioritize and complete assignments with a minimum of supervision. •Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. •Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the public. •Ability to communicate effectively. •Ability to pay attention to details. •Ability to evaluate employees fairly and accurately. •Ability to evaluate prospective employees for food service positions. •Knowledge of sanitation principles and procedures. •Ability to motivate others •Ability to use a computer •Ability to organize tasks and function independently •Knowledge of therapeutic diets within 6 months of hire •Knowledge of catering setup and event planning within 6 months of hire •Knowledge of food operations systems within 6 months of hire PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Completion of a dietary manager course from a technical college or junior college or Completion of a dietetic technician course or relevant college level degree in food and nutrition and management Experience: Previous experience in leadership role Licensure/ Registration/ Certification: Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: •Knowledge of personnel management policies. •Knowledge of Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Hospital and CMS Standards related to nutrition and infection prevention. •Knowledge of performance improvement quality assessment processes and procedures. •Knowledge of hospital and department policies, procedures and practices. •Ability to communicate effectively with patients/families of all ages including infants, children, adolescents, adults and the elderly. Schedule

The hours for this position are from 1:00pm until close. Close is typically around 9:45pm. Holidays as scheduled.
