Regions Hospital Laboratory is currently seeking a professional, quality-focused Laboratory Services Technician to join our team. As part of our team you will join a collaborative group of professionals in our newly remodeled laboratory designed for ergonomics and workflow. As a Laboratory Services Technician (LST) at Regions Hospital you will obtain, receive and process of laboratory specimens on patients of all ages. The LST will support patients by identifying themselves by name, department and purpose of the visit upon entry to the patient's room and ensuring accurate patient identification and verification is followed. The LST must be able to perform phlebotomy, IV insertions and/or ECGs according to established policies and procedures. The LST will triage order requests for LST services, coordinates lab and IV orders to avoid multi-sticks for patients and is also responsible for performing pre/post analytical services/functions. This includes processing specimens (centrifugations, aliquot's, STAT versus routine prioritization and distribution to testing sites), analyzes the acceptability of laboratory specimens and triages specimens to maximize workflow and minimize turnaround times.
