This is a Charge RN covering both postpartum and the special care nursery. Qualifications: BSN required Two (2) years experience in area of specialty preferred at 0.8 FTE, or above (minimum of 3328 hours) Certification in area of specialty preferred and will be required within 18 months of hire. Proficient in: Postpartum: all postpartum care of maternal-newborn couplet, postpartum emergencies. Special Care Nursery: all care for 32 weeks gestation and above. Currently working in a Birth Center and has experience in post partum and NICU/SCN. Licensed as a registered nurse by the State of Minnesota. CPR for the professional rescuer or BLS for healthcare providers required. Currently working in a Birth Center Additional Job Requirements and Responsibilities Supports the Birth Center leadership in promoting a Birth Center that is highly reliable, family-centered and equitable. This includes but is not limited to:Quality improvement projects: implementation and auditing Stewardship: staffing and supply management Employee engagement Must work a minimum of 1 shift a pay period as bedside nurse with full patient assignment (not in charge role) Committee MembershipMust be an active member of Birth Center UPC and one other Birth Center Cluster committee (e.g. Practice & Safety, Newborn, Interdisciplinary Review Committee) Promotes the concept of a unified Birth Center: facilitates cross training of nurses to different units within the Birth Center, collaborates regularly with other Birth Center unit charge nurses to facilitate staffing and optimal patient care. Audits EMR for appropriate documentation Facilitates change management Becomes a Team Stepps coach; encourages the use of, role models and teaches Team Stepps concepts. Supports educational initiatives. Collaborates with educational team with new educational initiatives including but not limited to: mock codes, simulations, audits and skills days participation/teaching. Facilitates crucial conversations, huddles, Team Talk, debriefs and other communication techniques. Functions as the team leader/facilitator for obstetrical/neonatal emergencies and codes.
