Job Description: Regions Hospital is seeking a compassionate Burn Survivor Peer Support to join our Burn Department. This position is a vital and integral part of an interdisciplinary trauma team and collaborates closely with Burn Center staff including Nurse Clinicians, Psychotherapists, Telemedicine and other Peer Support. We are looking for a compassionate caring individual who is driven to help others. The Burn Survivor Peer Support must be flexible in a variety of circumstances as well have the ability to establish and maintain relationships with families, coworkers, community individuals and organizations. The Burn Survivor Peer Support position assists the burn team in providing direct and indirect services to patients and families during hospitalization. You will assist survivors in the transition from injury to rehabilitation to integration into the community. The Burn Survivor Peer Support will help the patient to understand, in general terms, the physical phenomena they are likely to experience during the healing process. This position will also establish and promote programs and events to support burn survivors. Experience: One year of experience working in health care or related field setting with patient/client contact or in a community health or related service agency. Must be a burn survivor. Licensure/Registration/Certification: Must be willing to be acquire S.O.A.R. (Survivors Offering Assistance in Recovery) coordinator certification within 2 years of hire.
